My April desktop background and calendar is now available at my website: Mike Sgier Comics and Illustration April Background.
This month’s background is a detail from the painting ‘The In Medias Res Pub & Tavern,’ a painting I did last year that featured several famous authors in an old fashioned pub. In the image you’ll find Lord Byron, the Brontë sisters, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Jane Austen, and many more!

For those of you who were fans of the author mashup bar painting I finished up last month, it is now available to purchase as a print, both as a giclee fine art print and a photographic print. Quantities are limited for now, but more will be available down the road.

This is a drawing for a painting commission that I’m currently working on. Idea was to have a bar/pub with numerous literary authors commiserating with each other. This will be my fourth official pub painting. People seem to like these, for whatever reason.
Final measurement of the drawing was 20” x 38.” It took me 2 days to figure out how to scan the drawing and piece them together with an 8” x 11” scanner. It was painful, but I got it done.
